New York-based recording artiste L. Razor is looking to “lockdown dancehall” after the release of his second EP, Welcome To L. Razor on November 1.

The six-track project was produced by the deejay’s Straight Hits Records and is being distributed worldwide by VP Record’s VPAL Distribution.

“The public probably won’t know what to do with this EP, because my music, my lyrics and flow are completely different from what they’ve become accustomed to listening,” said the Portmore-born entertainer.

“People may think it’s the best thing ever, some people may say it’s garbage. Some might say it’s not even Dancehall. But, despite all this, they will grow to get used to it and realise my style of combining Jamaican dancehall with my New York influence is something fresh to the culture that is needed. So I am just delivering, they will start calling me the ‘New York dancehall representer’,” he added.

    L. Razor is looking to emulate the successes of his first EP, Metaverse Dancehall, which peaked at number one on Apple iTunes Reggae Chart in the USA following its January 2023 release.

He also shared that the project was inspired by a desire to show his fanbase his authentic self.

“I just wanted to let my supporters into my world of fun and enjoyment and to showcase my God given talent. I love giving the younger generation the motivation to live good and upgrade their lives to start enjoying the finer things in life. I am trying to be a great inspiration to the youths by letting them know there’s some good in life out there. It’s always great to see another ghetto youth like themselves fight the fight through life to get somewhere better in life,” he said.

The deejay said he is looking to move back to Jamaica soon in order to further his career.

“Then I would be able to link up with a good management team and record label. That is my focus right now,” he added.
