Saboo is a militant singer-songwriter. Initiated from early childhood to world music, he grew fond of BobMarley songs.
The son of one of the organizers of the Montreal International Percussion Festival, created in 2001, early, he was involved in staging and later he as stage manager of the stage of emerging bands for that same festival, which allowed him to exercise to the fullest, his organizational & artistic talents.
All the while, he started organizing “soundsystems” and formed a 4 member band (Bass, guitar, drums and vocals), in 2007, named Boomgaïa. He took part in a few shows in the company of the Jamaica singer Jahness & performed in Quebec in several locales. Accompanied by musicians and /or sequences, he offers a reggae with rhythmic and poetic tonalities and conscientious words with which percussions and vocals merge. His dream is to become an accomplished artist by embracing reggae in all its forms. A keen artist, with a contagious energy, he mc’s on stage to broaden up horizons within the current reality, as well as highlight political and environmental concerns. He reaches out to initiate collaborations and aspires to partake in many musical projects in the course of upcoming seasons, such as organizing a recurring and periodic event, catering to players of the local reggae scene and from abroad, and he enjoyed a tour of radio stations to get his musical repertoire to a broader audience. It was during the course of a trip in Jamaica, in 2011, that he contacted the Tuff Gong Studio (Bob Marley studio) and offered them a cut of the song Boomgaïa. A deal was made between the studio & Saboo for a recording with musicians at the Tuff in January 2012 in Kingston & they also managed to can two music videos in Negril, Westmoreland. Back in December 2012 he recorded Jamaica Vibes at the same studio as well as the video clip.
