Ricardo Campbell, professionally known as ‘Wai Fuzion’, wears several hats: singer, songwriter, and producer. Wai Fuzion recalls his love for music as early as 6 years old when he heard someone singing while walking on the road and enjoyed what he heard. Growing up, he witnessed his mother singing in church and was further inspired. His brother, a notable reggae acoustic singer, is also an inspiration for Wai Fuzion.
Fuzion’s musical palate was heightened when he joined the Oberlin High School Choir during his first year of attendance. This experience taught him to not only sing but to perform. After High School he enrolled in a Performing Arts course at the Excelsior Community College and participated in the Jamaica National Pantomime in 2013.
Wai Fuzion hails Jimi Hendrix, Prince, James Brown, Billie Ocean, Cyndi Lauper and Michael Jackson as his musical idols. His music is the perfect eclectic blend of reggae, afrobeat, and pop sounds that helps listeners to navigate their emotions on love and
relationships.
“My goal is to make fans feel like they’re not alone on their love and heartbreak journey.
They may be frustrated, confused
heartbroken and lost. They can’t seem to find the answers to make it feel better. I want them to know that they’re not the only ones experiencing those challenges and that others
are also working on healing from hurtful
situations,” he lamented.
Wai Fuzion’s music has racked up over 100 thousand streams and includes collaborations with artists including Chronic Law, Jah Cure and Shane O. Wai shows versatility in all areas of music, but his passion for producing remains at the forefront. His extensive experience allows him to specialize in unique music fusions of various genres.
No stranger to the highs and lows of the music industry, Wai Fuzion Records, the beat production behind dancehall’s most recent string of hits such as
“V6′, ‘Rasta’, ‘Cree’, ‘Ruff C’, ‘Still Dark’, Toyota Crown’, and ‘Jiff’ just to name a few.
Wai Fuzion’s vision is to be one of the greatest musicians from Jamaica, winning Grammy awards for his work locally and internationally. He says he wants to “blend his taste in pop, afrobeat and reggae music to help listeners express their emotions through music.”
